September and October

Since July the Collective's Sunday sessions have only taken place on the first Sunday of the month but we have had some extra sessions too. Last month the Challenge Network helped with one of the sessions. 12 young people came to the studio and did a great job tidying the place up, repairing furniture and supporting some of our artists with their work.
Here are three members of the group helping John to complete his mosaic:

Triptych by Mary G

A colour triptych by Mary G. It has taken approximately 6 x 3 hour sessions for her to complete this but it was well worth the wait!

Spring 2013

Today saw the grand opening of the butterfly house gift shop in Brent Lodge Park which has been set up to sell merchandise and generate money for the Art Collective, the Animal Centre and Ealing Mencap. At the entrance you can see one of the banners created by Ealing Mencap attendees of Art Collective sessions:

The Art Collective has had some limited edition greetings cards printed by Accession social enterprise which are on sale in the gift shop. Some of the cards feature images from the animal enclosures:

Artists continue to create some excellent artwork, including this train by Liam:

Keith has completed a horse tryptic as part of a private commission:

And finally... the art collective held it's latest trustee/steering meeting on 10th March. We had 11 attendees including all 6 trustees in co-positions. Vincent (as co-secretary) took some pictorial minutes to accompany Jude's minutes. In negative they resemble a medieval blockcut print:

Some images from the past month

The art collective designed 3 more signs for the animal centre including this one of the new geese:

Keith has painted some more of the animals and birds that can be seen around Brent Lodge Park including this Mandarin duck:

The Ealing Mencap art group have been working on butterflies in preparation for the 2013 opening of the butterfly house. Some of these designs will be used on merchandise which will be sold at a stall on site.
